Pool Rules
The following rules and regulations are for the protection of all members and
guests, and are intended to assure safe and sanitary operation of the swimming
pool and facilities. Your utmost cooperation in abiding by these conditions
will afford pleasant relaxation and recreation for all concerned. Parents are
requested to caution their children to observe all rules and regulations, and
to obey the instructions of all lifeguards. Any failure to comply with these
rules shall be considered sufficient cause for any appropriate action deemed
necessary by the Board of Directors, including the
barring of violators from the use of the pool area.
General

Current sign in procedures must be adhered to by members and/or guests when
entering the pool area.

All persons use the pool at their own risk.

Handicapped members will be provided access through the emergency gate. Please
notify the lifeguards of planned arrival time.

Pool users are solely responsible for their personal property while on club
grounds.

Soap showers and the use of footbaths before entering the pool are mandatory.
-
Admission may be refused to anyone wearing bandages or with skin abrasion,
colds, coughs, inflamed eyes, infections, open sores, excessive sunburn, nasal
discharge, or other evidence of high contamination risk.

Running, pushing, wrestling, ball playing, causing undue disturbances, or any
activity endangering self or others in and about the pool area will not be
permitted.

No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the pool area.

No glass containers of any kind are allowed in the pool area.

Food is permitted only in the designated picnic areas and in the grass areas.

Smoking is permitted on the grass areas of the pool only.

Only authorized personnel are permitted in the pool office or in the lifeguard
stands.

All injuries occurring on the pool premises must be reported to the Pool
Manager.

Expectorating, spouting water, nose blowing, etc. in the pool are expressly
prohibited.

No pets of any kind will be allowed within the pool enclosure with the
exception of bona fide "seeing eye" dogs.

No abusive language will be tolerated.

Only those wearing bona fide swimming attire are permitted in the main pool.

The use of beach balls and other toys is permitted in the baby pool only.

The only permissible swim aids are Coast Guard approved life vests,
back-mounted flotation devices (see pool office for sample), and swim fins
(note: swim fins are not permitted in the shallow area.) All other swim aids
and flotation devices are prohibited, including, but not limited to, "water
wings", "noodles", and inflatable mats/rafts. The use of swim fins and plastic
facemasks will be regulated by the Pool Manger.

The pool may be closed at any time due to equipment failure, unsatisfactory
water quality, or weather. Montgomery County requires that at the first visible
evidence of lightning or audible thunder the pool must be closed, and must
remain closed for at least one half (1/2) hour after the last such lightning or
thunder. The Pool Manager shall have the authority to affect the closing
consistent with County requirements.

The pool will be cleared of all people in the event of an emergency.

There will be a fifteen minute Adult Swim before every hour.

Lifeguards are responsible for the strict enforcement of the Rules and
Regulations. They have the authority to temporarily suspend any member or guest
from using the facility.

The pool may be closed to general member swimming for WRC sponsored special
events, swim team meets, dive meets, and official clinics. The membership will
be notified in advance of any such closing by notices posted at the pool at
least 24 hours before such a closing.

The maximum number of people in the pool or the pool area shall be consistent
with current Montgomery County requirements. The Pool Manager will be
responsible for enforcement.

When a lap lane(s) is(are) designated by the Pool Manager, its use is
restricted for that purpose.

The use of audio devices (radio, cassette players, CD Players, walkmans, TV's,
etc) in the pool area is restricted to the use of personal earphones.
Dive Area
-
Use of the diving area is restricted to those who have demonstrated adequate
swimming skills.

No backing down the ladder. Once you have begun to climb the ladder, you must
proceed into the water from the board.

Only one person on the ladder and diving board at a time.
-
Do not dive until the previous diver has reached the ladder at the side of the
diving area.
-
Immediately upon surfacing, swim to the nearest ladder and leave the diving
area.
-
Only one bounce from the board is allowed.
-
No "horseplay" or "follow the leader" type games are permitted.

Any special activities in the diving area will be at the discretion of the Pool
Manager.

Diving boards may be closed at the discretion of the Pool Manager
Adult Supervision

CHILDREN 8 YEARS OF AGE AND UNDER MUST BE SUPERVISED BY AN ADULT FOR ADMISSION
TO THE POOL AND POOL AREA, AND THE ADULT MUST REMAIN WITH THE CHILDREN DURING
THE ENTIRE TIME THEY ARE IN THE POOL AND POOL AREA. An Adult is defined as a
person at least sixteen years of age.

Children over eight years of age who cannot demonstrate sufficient capacity to
the management may be required to be accompanied by an adult. All children
under twelve (12) must pass the WRC prescribed swimming test before admittance
to the main part of the pool or diving area. A parent may, with the approval of
the guard in the chair, take his/her child who has not passed the swim test
into the main body of the pool provided the parent remains in the water with
the child. Parent and child must be on a one-to-one ratio. This activity is not
permitted during adult swim. Permission from the lifeguard in the chair must be
obtained in advance. The guard may limit or prohibit this activity if the guard
believes such action is necessary for the reason of safety.
Wading Pool

The wading pool is intended for children under 5 years of age, who are being
supervised by their parents. Children up to 8 years of age may use the wading
pool if other parental supervision is not available for the main pool.

NO LIFEGUARD STATION IS WITHIN THE WADING POOL AREA; THEREFORE PARENTS ARE
SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL CHILDREN IN THE WADING POOL AREA.

Lounges are NOT permitted in the wading pool area.

BABIES OF DIAPER AGE MUST WEAR SWIM DIAPERS ONLY. CLOTH DIAPERS (WITH OR
WITHOUT RUBBER PANTS) AND DISPOSABLE DIAPERS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

NOTE: IN THE EVENT OF AN "ACCIDENT", THE STATE OF MARYLAND REQUIRES POOL
CLOSURE FOR TWO COMPLETE WATER CHANGEOVERS, OR APPROXIMATELY 10 HOURS FOR OUR
POOL. Only infant seats and strollers will be permitted in the pool area.

Strollers will not be permitted within ten feet of the pool. No carriages,
playpens, portable cribs, or similar equipment will be allowed.
